La Mesa Lumber & Hardware is a full-service retail lumber, hardware, and building materials dealer situated on four acres in downtown La Mesa, California. The lumberyard was established in 1907 and has been family owned and operated since 1945.

La Mesa Lumber stands out as one of the few independent lumber companies still operating in San Diego. We owe this to the dedication and loyalty of our employees and strong relationships built with our customers over the years. Chris Gauger

Operations Manager

Chris began working at La Mesa Lumber in 1983 as yard cleanup man. He has worked his way up to Operations Manager and brings a great deal of experience to the demanding job of running a lumberyard. Chris handles deliveries, yard sales, equipment, and inventory management, but he always has time to listen to customers and answer questions. He is in charge of our drive-in yard and sees to it that customers receive fast and courteous service.

Kim Wood

Retail Hardware Sales Manager

Kim has been with La Mesa Lumber since 1988. Under his management, the hardware and tool department has quickly grown since it was expanded in 1996. Kim stays in touch with customers and is quick to stock new products they ask for. He is always available to make recommendations and explain our products.

Wes Troy

General Manager

Wes has been with La Mesa Lumber as General Manager since 2018 and is part of the 4th generation of this thriving family business. Wes’ experience at La Mesa Lumber dates back to 1993 where he put in hard work as a yard clean up person, and then worked counter sales from 2000-2004 where he rounded out his knowledge and experience in the business. With a background in hospitality featuring 10 years as a manager with Hyatt Hotels, Wes brings a focus on customer service and employee engagement. Now, with an experienced management team and quality employees, Wes continues the tradition that La Mesa Lumber has built itself on: to be the preferred supplier of quality lumber and building materials as well as a great place to work.
